Planning fun activities for your disabled child can sometimes be difficult. Although leisure providers have a responsibility to make reasonable adjustments for disabled visitors, some attractions are more accessible than others. If you are struggling to find venues and activities which are suitable for your family, SIGN can help!

We hold a large amount of detailed, specialist leisure information, to help you find fun activities which are right for your child. You can call SIGN on 0114 266 9476, or email sign@sheffinfolink.org.uk for support in finding leisure services in your area. You can also browse details of local leisure activities on the ask Sid website, which contains details of special needs leisure and fun activities of all kinds.

Support for your child to attend activities

Many activities can also be accessed with help from the Special Needs Inclusion Playcare Service (SNIPS). This is a service provided by Sheffield City Council, which aims to improve access to leisure and other activities for children with disabilities or special needs. SNIPS works with children and young people aged 5-18, and can also support families needing to access childcare for their disabled child. To get in touch with the SNIPS team, call 0114 273 4017 or send an email. SNIPS has produced a map of all the clubs they currently work with in Sheffield.

If you have used the SNIPS service for your child, SNIPS would love to know what you thought of it. SNIPS – Parents Satisfaction Survey 2011 (as a Word document). Completed surveys should be returned to SNIPS, Floor 1, Castle Markets, Exchange Street, Sheffield, S1 2AH.
