Sheffield Information Link provides an invaluable service to the communities of Sheffield. It is the first port of call for information and advice on just about anything to do with parenting, services or activities for children and young people up to the age of 19.
We now need new Management Committee Members who can help support, develop and lead our organisation to continue to provide an excellent, high quality service for children and young people and their support networks across Sheffield.
Our Management Committee forms the governance and leadership for Sheffield Information Link, guiding the strategy and direction and ensuring effective management and delivery of the organisation.
We are currently looking to strengthen our Board as we enter exciting and challenging times ahead.
All applications are welcome and we especially welcome people who have voluntary sector development or private sector business skills to bring to the board.
We are particularly interested in people with:
- Financial expertise
- Fundraising and sponsorship expertise
- Business development, e.g. business planning
- Employment/HR expertise
- Strategic development and management
- Representatives of Young People aged 18 to 25, e.g. a Youth Parliament member
- People who have a personal or professional interest in children and young people, e.g. a teacher, childminder, parents
- People who are employed by large and/or umbrella voluntary sector organisations
The commitment we need from you is:
- Active attendance of four Management Committee meetings a year including reading papers beforehand
Keeping up to date with information posted on our Management Committee webpage One day equivalent of time to be given flexibly as agreed of expertise support to the organisation outside of Management Committee per year Attendance at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) Attendance at key SIL Away days/Strategic planning days What do you gain?

Being a Management Committee Member is a great way to make a significant difference to a voluntary organisation or cause that you care about. Our Management Committee Members play an incredibly important role in leading, supporting and developing our organisation.
Being a Management Committee Member is a respected and responsible role. It is also a brilliant route to developing new skills, gaining more experience and getting involved with new networks.
Although Management Committee Members receive no fee payment, out of pocket expenses can be paid including childcare.
