Finding the right childcare can be stressful for any family, but sometimes there can be extra obstacles in the way, such as language difficulty or an unusual working pattern. SIL’s Brokerage Service can help: we can provide additional tailored support on a one-to-one basis, to help parents find the childcare they need. This can in turn enable parents to return to work or begin training.
To access this extra support or to make a referral, call the friendly SIL team on 0114 249 8271 or by email on info@sheffinfolink.org.uk.
Please note that parents who are looking for childcare should, in the first instance, contact First Point on 0114 275 6699. Their team can provide parents with information about local childcare settings.
An example of how brokerage works
Jaine Barr, a parent from High Green, was struggling to find childcare to cover the school run to Angram Bank School. Due to a lack of childcare in the area, there were no local services with spaces available. Jobcentre Plus referred Jaine to us, and we contacted some childminders on her behalf. She found a childminder from outside Jaine’s area who was able to cover the pick-up.
Jaine said: “I was at my wits’ end after 2 months of searching. I contacted my Jobcentre lone parent advisor and the problem was sorted within days when she referred me to you.”
