Early Education (274kb)

Parents of children with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities have on offer to them a range of early education and childcare options to help them to select a provision that suits the needs of their child and family.

CYPD (159kb)

The Children's and Young People's Directorate (CYPD) has been formed by bringing together the Sheffield's Education Service and Sheffield Social Services for children and young people with some elements of Health services. The new Directorate works closely with the voluntary and community sector. These services have been brought together in one single directorate to ensure that the city achieves for all children the five key outcomes set by the government.

The Sheffield INDEX of Children and Young People with Disabilities, at the Ryegate Children's Centre, is the Child Disability Register for Sheffield.

Getting from A to B can be a daunting prospect for families with a child with a disability, but there are a range of support services available within the city which can help make life a little easier. There are also some national initiatives, with local providers, which help to support transport needs.

The Children and Young People’s Directorate (CYPD) has a particular role in providing education services for children with special educational needs (SEN). There are a number of social care services which support families with children with special needs. Details in this part of the pack include social care teams, short breaks and Special Need Inclusion Playcare Service (SNIPS).
