Staff from SIL received the award from Dawn Primarolo MP, Minister of State for Children, Young People and Families at an event in London on 26th January. So far SIL is one of only six Family Information Services in the UK to achieve the award, and the only independent service to do so.
NAFIS is the National Association of Family Information Services. To achieve its quality award, organisations must demonstrate that they offer a full range of services to meet the needs of parents, carers and practitioners within their area. Services must be delivered to an exceptionally high standard, and meet all aspects of the Extended Information Duty of the Childcare Act 2006.
This means SIL has demonstrated that, as well as information on childcare, we provide a range of other information which parents may need to support their children through to their 20th birthday. It also shows that we make sure our information is accessible to all parents who might benefit from it.
