About the SIL Library

Find out more about what the SIL Library has to offer.

Sheffield Information Link's extensive childcare library is situated in our shop at 11 Leopold Street. The library was developed to provide parents, carers and professionals with resources to support them on any childcare subject they care to browse. Many of the books can be borrowed and there is an extensive selection of children's books.

The library includes a multilingual resource with many books in dual languages. It is hoped that the multilingual resources will support parents from dual language families as well as students and professionals in the childcare sector who wish to gain an insight and understanding into the language, culture and religions of children in their care.

Membership is free for those wishing to borrow books, although we do ask that you bring proof of ID with you if you wish to take books away. Anyone can come in during opening hours to use it for reference.

Toy Libraries

Toy libraries loan good quality, carefully chosen toys to families with young children, including children with special needs. They usually offer a play session enabling children to play together. Large toys, which may be too big for use at home, are often available to play with at the toy library.
