Kathleen Baster, a mum from Walkley, contacted us to find out about nurseries and playgroups. She was looking for services in several different parts of Sheffield, because she lived in one part of town and worked somewhere else.
Martina, one of our team of experienced Information Officers, was able to provide detailed information about the services Kathleen had asked about. However, she also knew that SIL could provide more information which would also be helpful.
As well as the information Kathleen had requested, Martina offered the free ‘Places to Visit’ guide, with suggestions for local day-trips and outings, and a list of places where her children could take swimming lessons. She also told her about the library service SIL runs from its enquiry shop, and Kathleen was able to borrow two children’s books there and then.
Kathleen commented, “The person I dealt with was very pleasant and helpful, and the information given was excellent. I didn’t realise you would have so much information – I would have been down months ago if I’d known!”
