Sheffield Information Link's specialist service, SIGN Information Service, can provide detailed information about a range of disabilities, special needs and health conditions. The staff at SIGN can also advise on the support available to families of disabled children in Sheffield.
Their specialist knowledge proved useful to Julia Spencer, from Totley, when she contacted the SIGN Information Service to enquire about childcare. After discussing Julia's childcare needs, our Information Officer Rachel offered her additional information about respite care and leisure activities, as well as a list of childminders who had experience of working with children with special needs. She told her about Sheffield City Council's Special Needs Inclusion Playcare Service (SNIPS), and sent her Disability Information Packs about several conditions, which had been developed by SIGN.
Julia said: "I had no idea all this support was available. It could change my son's and my life for the better. Thankyou very much."
