As a Families Information Service, SIL is constantly striving to improve the service it gives to all of its clients, including the childcare services we promote.

It's not only parents who benefit from the broad range of services we offer at SIL. Many professionals depend on our detailed information and the expertise of our staff in order to support their clients. Rose Ward, a learning mentor, recently contacted our SIGN service and was impressed with the support they could offer.

Did you know that SIL can provide you with great ideas for fun activities for children and young people, all year round? Emma Bostwick, a childminder from S6, recently contacted SIL to request leisure information and contacted us to share her positive experience.

We're pleased to add a new case study to our collection of satisfied customers! SIL staff spend a lot of time out and about in Sheffield, talking to parents and carers about the services we offer. In May 2009, SIL held an information stall at Whirlow Hall Farm's Baby Friendly Guide event, where they met Sarah Jones.

Sheffield Information Link's specialist service, SIGN Information Service, can provide detailed information about a range of disabilities, special needs and health conditions. The staff at SIGN can also advise on the support available to families of disabled children in Sheffield.

Dawn Johnson, from Parson Cross, had heard of Sheffield Information Link through her work at a children's centre. She sent in a postcard requesting information about childcare, and ticked the box indicating that this was for a child with a disability or special needs.

Kathleen Baster, a mum from Walkley, contacted us to find out about nurseries and playgroups. She was looking for services in several different parts of Sheffield, because she lived in one part of town and worked somewhere else.
