We have Rights too!
Children have rights set out in law and in the UN convention.
These include:
- The right to be treated as a person in their own right (not the property of their parents)
- The right to a say in decisions that affect them
- The right to choose their own friends
- The right to make up their own mind
- The right to privacy
- The right to be treated with dignity
- The right not to be treated cruelly
Sheffield Information Link is committed to raising awareness of children's rights and produces a factsheet "A guide to children's rights."
Our dedicated library based in the enquiry shop is open to all and has further information on children's rights as well as child protection and participation.
